THE TEACHERS INSURANCE AND ANNUITY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (TIAA) honored MUSICIANS ON CALL Pres. PETE GRIFFIN by placing him on the TIAA Difference Maker 100 List of national community leaders. GRIFFIN was credited in the Arts & Culture category for his leadership in expanding the organization’s mission and bringing its programs to more markets across the country. With this honor, MUSICIANS ON CALL will receive $10,000 towards its programs, including its flagship Bedside Performance Program.
“We are proud to have brought the healing power of music to more than 675,000 people across the country, and thanks to this gift from TIAA we will be able to reach thousands more through our Bedside Performance Program,” said GRIFFIN. “Studies have shown that music can improve the patient experience in ways like alleviating pain and improving blood pressure. As we continue to expand our program, more patients, family members, and caregivers will be able to experience how music heals.” Added TIAA Pres./CEO ROGER W. FERGUSON, JR, “We could think of no better way to commemorate our centennial than to celebrate the people we have a mission to serve -– the millions of nonprofit professionals driven by purpose and service –- and to help enable them to continue having a positive impact on the world. We were delighted to receive over 4,000 submissions. Each represents an inspiring story that epitomizes what it means to be a difference maker.”
