In a blog post at the FCC's website, Chairman AJIT PAI said that the Commission will launch its 2018 Quadrennial Review of broadcast ownership rules, and by WEDNESDAY morning, the proceeding was assigned Media Buteau Docket No. 18-349.

PAI wrote that the review will open with a Notice Of Proposed Rulemaking including the ownership rules and "several diversity-related proposals." He added that the Commission will also consider an order, part of the Modernization Of Media Regulation Initiative, to eliminate some rules regarding keeping license copies at transmitter sites and other specific locations, because "licensing information is readily accessible online through the FCC’s databases," making the rules "redundant and obsolete."
