Station Owner Bob Smith Dies At 90

BOB SMITH, the former owner of radio stations in MINNESOTA, WISCONSIN, and FLORIDA, died MONDAY (6/3) of natural causes in HUDSON, WI at 90, according to the ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS.

"RADIO BOB" began his career in FLORIDA while in the NAVY, starting a military news show on WKWF-A/KEY WEST radio, then moved back to MINNESOTA where he ultimately joined WAVN-A/STILLWATER, which later became WIMN and is now KLBB-A (owned by his son DAN). He and partners NICK and VIC TEDESCO founded WIXK-A/NEW RICHMOND, WI in 1960, and SMITH eventually owned other stations; at his death, SMITH owned Full Service AC WWIS-A-W287CT and Classic Country WWIS-F (99.7 THE STAR)/BLACK RIVER FALLS, WI.
