ENTRAVISION Country KNTY (101.9 THE WOLF)/SACRAMENTO will flip to Spanish on MONDAY, JULY 8th. The staff was let go last FRIDAY (6/28). PD TOSH JACKSON, who also programs Top 40/Rhythmic KHHM (HOT 103.5), will be leaving at the end of the month. He’s looking for his next opportunity, and can be reached here, or by phone at (916) 256-6547. He tells ALL ACCESS, “It’s a sad day.”
Word of the flip emerged on FACEBOOK last night (7/1), when two air personalities — midday host KIMMY K [KAY] and evening host TRACY LEIGHANN [BRIMMER] — posted farewell messages to their listeners.
BRIMMER wrote, “The WOLF we all love will be coming to an end. We recently found out, way beyond our control, that ENTRAVISION has decided to fold THE WOLF. You will no longer hear me on-air, and sometime at the end of the week you won’t hear our favorite Country artists on 101.9 or 98.9 in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA … We rode it out until we were told no more. The WOLF may be gone, but we’ll forever be the WolfPack.”
KAY wrote, “Dear Wolfies, this post is for you. Thank you for allowing us into your lives every day. Whether on your car radio, streaming online, or seeing your faces and those of your family and friends at our concerts, events, and live performances, ya'll were the reason we came in and did work every day. THE WOLF’s chapter may be ending, but thank you for being there with us to bring it to a close.”
The station’s other local personality was afternoon-driver R.J. MCCOY. It aired the syndicated “THE TY BENTLI SHOW” in mornings. Promotion Dir. ALEX GUERRA is among the layoffs.
