CUMULUS Regional VP/Market Manager ANDY STUART is out in TOLEDO, a representative confirmed on WEDNESDAY to the TOLEDO BLADE in a one-sentence statement .
"ANDY STUART is no longer with the company," said CUMULUS MEDIA EVP/Operations BOB WALKER, "and consistent with our policy, we will have no further comment regarding personnel issues.”
The company did not announce its plans for the now-vacant position.
A veteran of the radio business in TOLEDO, STUART has served as the head of the local CUMULUS chain and its cluster of seven stations since 2014. Prior to joining CUMULUS, STUART was VP/Regional Market Manager for CLEAR CHANNEL (now iHEARTMEDIA) for more than a decade, leaving head a local start-up.
According to THE BLADE, under STUART, the TOLEDO CUMULUS stations have undergone several major changes in their on-air personalities, including shaking up the morning show and re-branding Adult Hits WWWM (STAR 105), renaming it WQQO (Q105).
STUART helped guide the transition of TOLEDO's top-rated morning show, Country WKKO's "SHORES and STEELE," following the 2018 death of HARVEY STEELE and the retirement of GARY SHORES, putting in place the WRQN drive-time duo of CLIFF SMITHERS and LYN CASYE. The TOLEDO BLADE wrote that STUART was known for creating controversy while managing CLEAR CHANNEL's TOLEDO cluster, particularly at WSPD, known for its outspoken talk-show hosts.
In JUNE, the ATLANTA-based CUMULUS announced that it had completed its financial restructuring and emerged from Chapter 11, with a debt reduction of more than $1 billion.
