UPDATE: As expected, FOREVER MEDIA’s 101.3 frequency in SALISBURY-OCEAN CITY, MD flipped to Country this morning (11/1) as WCHK (CHICKEN 101.3). Listen live here.
PREVIOUS STORY: As FOREVER MEDIA Classic Hits WNCL (COOL 101.3)/OCEAN CITY, MD prepares to move up the dial to the 102.1 frequency previously occupied by sister Sports station and ESPN affiliate WYUS (NET NEWS 10/21), the station is currently stunting. The programming is a loop of LAWRENCE WELK’s “The Chicken Dance,” GECO’s “Chicken Song,” drops from famed LOONEY TUNES rooster FOGHORN LEGHORN, and a recorded announcement saying, “a brand new radio station hatches on 101.3 FRIDAY morning [11/1] at 5:30.” A snippet of the theme song from “The Jeffersons” is also included.
As the stunting might indicate, the new format is expected to be Country with the moniker “THE CHICKEN.” Meanwhile at COOL, the station will also be heard on 930 AM.
The COOL FACEBOOK page features a list of the station’s top five “goodbye” songs, which includes titles from THE BEATLES, ELTON JOHN, GREEN DAY, NIGHT RANGER and SUPERTRAMP.
